Oppressors: Who Will Hold the Powerful Accountable?

How long until we truly see them for who they are?

They are the legislators.
The honourables.
The untouchables.

But on the flipside—they are the paedophiles, the rapists, the murderers, the abusers.
They are the ones who steal from our plates while having already feasted four years in advance.

Who will police them?

Who will hold them accountable?
They violate basic human rights while we all look the other way.

I heard them conspire to stay silent when he abused me.
They said, “She’s only a child. She’ll forget.”
I saw them abduct.
And when I spoke out, I was the one abducted, violated… and silenced.

They discussed petitions, their mouths frothing with rage and hypocrisy.

Who will police the policymakers?

It reminds me of an excerpt from the book “Shamba la Wanyama”“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others,” by Orwell G. (1945).
We studied it in high school, and back then, I didn’t understand what it meant.
Now, I do.
