LIFE OF A COLLEGE STUDENT AT ACOP

 

A day in the life of a college student is filled with a mix of academics, socializing, personal time, and extracurricular activities. Here’s a typical day of Margret Wanjiku a counselling psychologist student at Africana College.

Morning:

  • 7:30 AM – Wake Up:
    • Margret often wake up around this time, though she may sleep in a bit later depending on her class schedule. The morning start with checking social media or messages from friends.
  • 8:00 AM – Breakfast:
    • Margret grabs a quick meal in her dorm room. Breakfast is often a mix of grabbing something convenient or cooking a quick meal.
  • 9:00 AM – First Class:
    • . Sometimes she may attend this class online because her course  is a hybrid program
  • 10:30 AM – Study/Free Time:
    • After class, Margret head to the library or study area to complete assignments, review notes, or prepare for upcoming exams.

Midday:

  • 12:00 PM – Lunch:
    • Lunchtime can be social, often spent with friends or classmates in the dining hall, campus cafes, or food courts.
  • 1:00 PM – Afternoon Classes:
    • After lunch, Margret usually attend more classes, which could include a mix of lectures or discussion-based sessions.
    • In the late afternoon, students often catch up on assignments, collaborate on group projects, or prepare for presentations or meet with lecturers for extra help.
  • 3:30 PM – Extra Extracurricular Activity

Evening:

  • 5:00 PM – part time job at the college:
    • .Margaret tends to her part-time job at the college, then heads to her apartment
  • 7:00 PM – Dinner:
    •  Margret   makes  dinner in her apartments or sometimes she may choose to eat out with a friend

 

                        

 

                      Night:

  • 8:00 PM – More Study or Relaxation:
    • After dinner, she may spend some time studying for exams, doing homework, or working on long-term projects. Or choose to unwind by watching TV shows, reading, or scrolling through social media.
  • 10:00 PM – Socializing or Downtime:
    • Many students enjoy spending their evening relaxing or socializing, whether that means hanging out with friends in common areas, playing board games, or attending social events hosted by campus organizations.
  • 11:00 PM – Wind Down:
    • Before going to bed, students often wind down by preparing for the next day: setting out clothes, packing their bag, or reviewing notes for an early morning class. Some students might also use this time to have a late-night snack or chat with roommates.
  • 12:00 AM – Sleep:
    • By midnight, Margret heads to bed

  • Balance is Key:
    • Managing time effectively is crucial. A typical student’s day often involves balancing academic commitments with personal time, socializing, and self-care.
  • Weekends:
    • On weekends, she may have a more flexible schedule. She may use the extra time to catch up on work, enjoy campus events, or head home to visit family. Social gatherings, study groups, or campus parties are also common weekend activities.
