Course Overview
The course is open to people who are interested in developing professional counselling skills in marriage and family therapy. The course takes 1 & half years to complete. Each course has a group of twelve participants facilitated by 2 professionally qualified trainers. The use of the internet is an integral part of the course and participants will be provided with their own web space.
Minimum Entry Requirements
- C- and above in K.C.S.E
- Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma or above qualification.
- Counselling work experience involving couples and families.
Assessment
The course will be assessed at two levels: internal and external.
- Internal assessment: conducted continuously by the trainer (internal assessor) who is monitored by an accredited internal verifier.
- External assessment: conducted by an external assessor who is monitored by an accredited external verifier.
- The assessors and verifiers are accredited by TVET/KCPA/IPCC which also coordinates external assessment.
Certification
To be awarded Certificate in Counselling Psychology, an individual must demonstrate competence in all the units of competency. These certificates will be awarded by TVET CDACC in conjunction with ACOP.
